Learning Management System (LMS) Module
In order to get the most out of your training you need to be able to assign training content to users that are relevant to their job function. Also you need to be able to track the users’ progress through their assigned training to determine its effectiveness.
The “Learning Management System” (LMS) module in Armelenos adheres to the AICC and SCORM v 1.2 standards, which means that it will work with both AICC and SCORM compliant e-learning content.
By working with AICC content and SCORM content, it allows organisations to be able to use both types of content within the one system. This provides flexibility and investment protection for content that has been developed using both standards.
The “Learning Management System” module is the core module and it controls the use of the e-learning content in Armelenos. This means monitoring how people are progressing through the training and any tests contained within the e-learning content.
The powerful search facility in the LMS for Learners allows them to locate specific training topics quickly by searching on key words. This allows all of the training produced to provide “just-in-time” training to each Learner and acts as a reference tool as well as initial training.
The LMS allows you to import users into Armelenos and group them in a way that mirrors your own organisation. Users are added to physical groups and can also belong to multiple virtual groups which allows for flexibility when reporting an assigning training content.
Typically you create physical groups that mirror the departments in your organisation and then you insert users into the group to which they belong. In addition to this, in each department there are often different classes of employees such as secretaries, part time employees etc. In this scenario you can create virtual groups such as “Secretarial Staff” and make the secretarial members of each department a member of this virtual group.
Users can belong to only one physical group, but can be added to multiple virtual groups to suit your needs.
The flexibility of the group membership in Armelenos ensures that you can assign content quickly and easily which is pertinent to the individuals training needs, without having to assign content to each individual user.
Likewise you are able to quickly generate group reports on both physical and virtual groups, to determine how that group is progressing as a collective identity.
To determine an individual’s progress throughout a training title, you can generate a detailed user report which will outline their progress and how they have performed on any tests contained within. This progress can either be shown as a snapshot of their current progress or how they performed within a specific period of time.
The features in the Learning Management System module that relate to training content include the ability to:
  • Import AICC training content;
  • Import SCORM training content;
  • Assign content globally so all Armelenos users have access to the training;
  • Assign content to either physical groups, virtual groups or individual users;
  • Assign content on an open use policy where the users can access the training content, as long as it is available;
  • Assign content on a timed use policy where users can access the training content for specified time period;
  • Assign content on a single use policy where once the user has completed the training they are no longer allowed to access it.
  • Create content groups so like courseware will be displayed together to the Learner.
The features in the Learning Management System module that relate to user organisation include the ability to:
  • Create physical groups that mirror your organisations internal structure;
  • Create virtual groups for different job functions of employees;
  • Have users be members of multiple virtual groups;
  • Move users between physical groups within the organisation;
  • Select whether users add themselves to the system when they log on for the first time, or have an Armelenos administrator register them on the system;
  • Add multiple users simultaneously to the system from a CSV file using the “Import Users” wizard;
  • Specify the features within Armelenos that individual users can access, to keep the interface simple;
  • Create a template of default user settings so when users are inserted into Armelenos they receive the features that are most appropriate for your organisation.
The features in the Learning Management System module that relate to reporting include the ability to report on:
  • The results of individual Learners;
  • The results of Learners by Physical Group;
  • The results of Learners by Virtual Group;
  • A Learner’s time on-line for a given training title in Armelenos;
  • A snapshoot of the Learners current progress through a training title;
  • The training objectives that Learners have completed;
  • The results of any tests included in the training content by objective;
  • The aggregated results of the objective tests in the training title;
  • The activity of Learners on a periodical basis.
Certificates can be generated for Learners based on successful completion of a training title.
